The Center for International Affairs was initially established in 2003 as a Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) ordinance facility. It underwent reorganization in 2004 following corporation. Consequently, its main responsibilities have significantly expanded from solely supporting international students to broadly supporting Tottori University's international activities.
Currently, in collaboration with the International Exchange Division and various faculties, six faculty members facilitate Tottori University students’ study abroad programs (outbound education) and provide Japanese language and culture education for international students (inbound education).
A distinctive aspect of outbound education at Tottori University is the planning and development of unique overseas practical education programs. Currently, Tottori University is running these programs in Mexico, Uganda, and Malaysia, each with its own special features. All programs involve fieldwork in the host country and collaboration with local university students. These exclusive programs are unique to Tottori University, attracting many students each year.
To support international students, we offer a wide range of educational and support survice. These include comprehensive Japanese language education, lectures on Japanese culture and society, and orientation on various topics such as mental health, disaster prevention, and employment. Additionally, we operate a student supporter system specifically for international students.
In this way, the Center for International Affairs supports Tottori University’s international initiatives, aiming to cultivate global citizens through its key concept of "fusion of knowledge and practice." By fostering deep cooperation with the local community, the Center plays an important role in promoting regional internationalization.
Details about Tottori University’s international activities are available on the Center for International Affairs's website. We encourage international and Japanese students, faculty, staff, and the local community to visit the website to better understand and support our Center's initiatives.
