The Asia International Exchange Scholarship Foundation has offered the “Kawaguchi Shizuka Memorial Scholarship”.

The outline of this scholarship is as follows.

 

【Eligibility】

  1. Applicants must have an Asian nationality other than Japanese, come to Japan from an Asian country for study or research, and be enrolled as a regular student in a graduate or undergraduate program, or have a confirmed enrollment status.
  2. Graduate students or students with confirmed enrollment must be under 35 years of age at the time of application.
  3. Undergraduate students or students with confirmed enrollment must be under 30 years of age at the time of application.
  4. Those who have good conduct, academic excellence, and physical strength, and who need financial support.
  5. Have a recommendation from their academic advisor.
  6. Those who have not received any scholarship from other sources.
  7. Applicants must have Japanese language proficiency at the advanced level C or above of the Test of Practical Japanese as a Foreign Language (TOPJ).

 

【Scholarship】

  • Doctoral level: 840,000 yen per year (70,000 yen per month)
  • Master's and undergraduate level: 720,000 yen per year (60,000 yen per month)

 

【Grant period】

 In principle, one year from April 2025 or September 2025

 

【Selection Process】

 1st round: Application Screening

 2nd round: Interview and essay (to be conducted online in mid-April 2025)

 

【How to Apply】

 Please submit the following documents to the International Affairs Division, Tottori University.

  • Scholarship Application Form (Foundation Form)
  • Personal statement (Foundation form)
  • Letter of recommendation from academic advisor (any format, A4 size)
  • Certificate of enrollment or letter of admission
  • Academic transcript
  • Copy of residence card (front and back)
  • A statement of your study and research plan during your stay in Japan (any form, A4 size paper, written in either Japanese or English, stating your study/research goals, schedule, and future plans)
  • One official postcard (*) for notification of acceptance or rejection
    (*) Official postcard: A postcard with a stamp printed on it from the beginning. The applicant's current address must be written on the front and the back of the postcard must be blank.
  • Copy of Japanese Language Proficiency Certificate
