Opinion Exchange Meeting between the President and International Students

On December 13, 2024, an opinion exchange meeting between President Nakajima and International students was held.

The purpose of this meeting was to provide a forum for direct dialogue between the President and
International students enrolled at the University, to gain an understanding of what international students
feel on a daily basis while studying at the university, and to provide support for future international students
and further globalization of the university.
16 international students (from 10 countries) participated in this meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Nakajima opened the meeting by saying,
“I am very happy to have this opportunity to talk with the international students who have chosen to come to
Tottori University, under the circumstances that the Japanese government has set a goal to increase the number of international students coming to Japan.”

Afterwards, President Nakajima, Director Yamaguchi (in charge of international exchange) ,
Vice President Yasunobu (in charge of promotion of international exchange) , and the international students
exchanged opinions in groups.

International students said the future objective, “I want to find a job in Japan in the future.” “I want to go to
graduate school and become a high school teacher in my home country or Japan in the future.”, and
they talked about the changes in their life, “Since I came to Japan, I have been traveling alone,
going wherever I can go by bicycle." “I never used to cook in my home country, but now I cook bento."

They also commented to Tottori University, “The signage in Tottori University is only in Japanese or
some English, but there are no other languages. Please make the website multilingual,
even it is just the website.” ”I would like the length of stay at the international student dormitory to be longer."

The opinion exchenge meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere from the start to the end, with participants
commenting, “The president was very friendly, and we had a good conversation, and the opinions they gave us
were practical and valuable for our future lives. ”
