Sato Yo International Scholarship Foundation Recruitment for October 2023 and April 2024 applicants

To Privately Financed Students,


We have received the notice from Sato Yo International Scholarship Foundation inviting applications for scholarship students. 


If you would like to apply for this scholarship, please contact the International Affairs Division (e-mail:kokuko-gaku(a)ml.adm.tottori-u.ac.jp).※Please change the (a) to @ and send it to us.
When you fill out the application form on website, you need the control number issued by the IAD and some information of IAD.  

Please fill out the application form on foundation website by July 18th.
After that please submit the application documents to the IAD on the same day.



*The scholarship information of Foundation website is Japanese Only.


*You must fill out the application forms in Japanese.



[Qualified Applicants]

 To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be privately financed International students who are enrolled in the University as undergraduate or graduate students, and from one of the following countriesBangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, East Timor, Viet NamNote: Japanese Nationals and Research students are not qualified.


In addition, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

1. Students have a “college student” visa;

2. Students do not receive scholarship or learning incentives from other organizations;

3. Students who do not have parents working in Japan;

4. Students do not have a doctoral degree;

5. Student's enrollment period will last more than one year beginning from October 2022 or from April 2023;

6. Students with enough Japanese language skills to complete their study and research;

7. Students who have an interest in international understanding and goodwill, and can attend six exchange meetings a year, and intend to actively engage in exchange activities in the future;





[Monthly Award]

   Undergraduate Students: 150,000 yen (Tuition assistance available)

   Graduate Students: 180,000 yen (There is also tuition assistance and financial support available for participating in academic conferences related to your study program.)


[Scholarship period]

    2 years or until the completion of the current course

[Selection and Result]

    ・Primary Selection Phase:Screening of application documents

      Announcement of the result on website:Friday, October 20, 2023

    ・Secondary Selection Phase:Interview in Japanese (An interview will be held on October 28 or October 29. )

 Announcement of the result on website:Thursday, November 2, 2023

IMPORTANT!!  If you apply for this scholarship, Tottori University will not be able to recommend you for any other scholarships until you receive the result of your application from the Sato Foundation.

  • *If it is found that you were not selected to receive this scholarship, then you will be able to apply for any other scholarships.

  • Students who are adopted must attend the certification ceremony.
